Here is what happened:
S Club fans were left in shock by the sudden passing of band member Paul Cattermole at the age of 46 in April. Still, his former bandmates are keeping his memory alive as they carry on with their 25th-anniversary tour. The group, which includes Tina Barrett, Jon Lee, Bradley McIntosh, Jo O’Meara, and Rachel Stevens, have found a way to honor Paul’s memory during their performances.
In an exclusive interview, Bradley described how Paul’s voice is the first thing heard when the lights dim for the show. “There’s a song called ‘The Good Times’ that he sung, and it’d be his voice with some really beautiful music underneath and it just sets the scene,” Bradley explained. “In fact, that would get me emotional most nights, just hearing his voice.” The band also includes a segment where Paul’s performance of the song is shown on a big screen, along with clips of the group from back in the day, bringing back cherished memories of their time together.
Tina Barrett shared that Paul’s excitement for the band’s reunion was palpable, making his absence all the more poignant. “He was so excited, probably the most excited out of all of us actually,” Tina expressed. “But the concert is a tribute to Paul, so he’s very much in the show.” The other band members recalled Paul’s larger-than-life personality, with Joanne fondly remembering him as a “goofy, massively crazy, loud human being.”
Despite their grief, the band is carrying on with scheduled tour dates as they continue to honor Paul’s memory in their performances.
